The community of Qualicum Beach is located on the eastern shores of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Along the waterfront of the community is a pathway which provides unreal views of the far off mountains and massive beach. The sandy beach is covered in fine white sand and it is the centre of activity during the summer months.
Qualicum Waterfront Walkway extends from one end of the waterfront to the other. Lining the path are some accommodations, restaurants and a concession stand. Most of the path is open, away from buildings, providing great views of the ocean.
At one end of the walkway is a viewing platform for birdwatching called the Brant Viewing Area. At the other end is a Totem Pole and a "Welcome to Qualicum" sign. Lining the pathway are viewing benches - some metal, some wood. Set back in the trees are picnic tables and grass lawns for lounging. Other activities enjoyed include walking, jogging, rollerblading, dog walking, birdwatching and sightseeing.
At low tide the waterfront of Qualicum Beach becomes one big beach. It is at low tide when the sand castles go up, the swimming trunks come out, picnicking kicks into high gear and beachcombing is popular.
The Oceanside Highway follows the waterfront of Qualicum Beach. Parking is plenty and angular and only in designated spots.
