The Holland Creek Trail is located in the community of Ladysmith, BC, Canada in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. The hiking trail is easily accessible from many points in the community and is well maintained , as well as, acts as a connector trail accessing other hiking trails in the region.
The hiking trails are well marked and there are trail maps posted along the route. The trails range from wheelchair accessible, mild walking, moderate hiking to difficult conditions.
The Holland Creek Trail is 5.9 kilometres long and explores through the backcountry forests behind the village and follows the shores of Holland Creek in some sections. Most follow a dirt path, although there are some boardwalk sections and gravel. Along the trail are wooden bridges, wooden stairs and some sitting benches. Much of the trail is under a canopy of trees and does not see a lot of sun - so dress in layers and watch for slippery sections along the trail especially on the bridges.
The Holland Creek Trail has many highlights located along the route including a waterfall, parks, viewpoints, Colliery Dam and a reservoir. This hike can be cut in half when it is accessed from Methuen Rd and made even shorter when accessed from the Mackie Rd parking lot near the waterfall. The Holland Creek Trail connects to Estuary Walking Trail and the Heart Lake Loop Trail.
