Shoen Lake Provincial Park

Shoen Lake Provincial Park is a remote and rugged park destination located north of the community of Campbell River, BC on Vancouver Island, Canada. The park is a tough and rough, natural park with a network of wilderness trails surrounding Shoen Lake.

The recreation lake is 5 kilometres long and a popular destination for many water sports including fishing, canoeing and swimming. There is no designated swimming area but there are trails along the shoreline connecting to short access trails leading down to the lake.  

The 8,400 hectare recreation park is popular for activities like backpacking, hiking, wilderness camping, fishing and canoeing. many of the  trails in the park are unmaintained wilderness trails. Some easier than others. Two of the more popular hiking trails include the Shoen Creek Trail and Nisnak Lake Trail.

There are also extreme adventures in the park. One of the more grueling hiking routes is the hike up 1,802-meters to the peak of Mt. Shoen. Rewards for hiking to the summit include wide reaching views of the meadows, valleys and Shoen Lake.

There are some basic amenities in the park. Some of which include a boat launch, two pit toilets and a small wilderness campsite. There is no power, sani dump or running water at this campground.
