Exploring Highway 23N along the east side of Revelstoke Lake provides many viewing opportunities of snow-capped mountains, marinas, boats and wildlife. The Selkirk Mountains dominate the views on the east side of Lake Revelstoke and the Monashee Mountains on the west side. The wildlife in the area include Bighorn Sheep, Elk and Caribou.

Highway 23N is filled with twists and turns making it an ideal touring route for road cycling, motorbike touring and scenic car drives. The highway also leads to boat launches, marinas, wilderness campsites, and hiking trails.  Fishing is one of the more popular activities on the lake. Mostly trolling. People arrive to catch whitefish, rainbow, kokanee and bull trout. Be aware the lake is prone to high gusts of wind, choppy waters and floating debris.

In the winter months, the gravel Forest Service Road on the west side of Lake Revelstoke is known as the Frisby Ridge Trail. It is a popular off road route for snowmobilers. The trail is equipped with a cabin and 144 square kilometres of alpine riding trails reaching up to 6500 feet.

Revelstoke Lake is easily accessible from Highway 23. Along the highway route there are many viewing areas available to pull over. One being the Revelstoke Dam. It is the first attraction you will notice on your drive. Another would be the 5 Mile Day Use Site. A picnic site with a view of the lake and dam.

Campgrounds exist on Lake Revelstoke. Carnes Creek is a forestry recreation campsite and Martha Creek is a provincial park campground. Also, there are a few "informal recreation sites" like the Old 30, Liberty East and the North Cap. These tend to be "no thrill" sites sometimes providing boat moorage.
