Gyro Park is a very popular community recreation day park in the heart of Nelson, BC in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The garden park extends onto a rock outcropping viewpoint which overlooks the downtown sector of Nelson, BC and the west arm of Kootenay Lake.
Gyro Park includes an outdoor recreation pool, many manicured flower gardens, a network of short walking trails, many sitting and viewing benches, a jungle jim playground, a viewing gazebo overlooking the pool, some change rooms, clean washrooms and an exceptional lookout point.
The network of the short walking trails connects all of the activity areas in the park together. Most of the paths are paved, some are gravel trails. Some walking paths cross over bridges, some paths connect together and all are lined with sitting benches. The lookout provides views of the downtown of the community, the mountains in the background and the west arm of the lake. The lookout is very easily accessible, even wheelchair accessible. All ages can enjoy the views.
Also take the time to view the many floral gardens in the park. The gardens and the many deciduous trees in Gyro Park change color with the seasons. The park is open year round. Bring a camera.
