Windermere Lake is one of the more popular recreation lakes in the Columbia Valley region of British Columbia, Canada. Located in the Rocky Mountain Trench of British Columbia, Canada with the Purcell Mountain Range to the west and the Rockies to the east.

The community of Invermere and the small village of Windermere rest on the shores of the lake. The resort village of Fairmont Hot Springs is located just south of the lake while the village of Radium Hot Springs is located just north of the lake.

Summer activities on the lake during the summer months are plentiful. The most popular are water sports like water skiing, boating and jet skiing. However, there are lots of other activities enjoyed at the lake including swimming, canoeing, beachcombing, picnicking, wind surfing, fishing, birding, hiking, sail boarding, sailing and kayaking.

Located on the shores of Windermere Lake are many resorts, parks and boat launches.

The Windermere Lake Provincial Park ( 205 hectares ) on the shores of the lake protects the native grasslands and the riparian habitats in the area. On the north end of the lake is the community of Invermere and the sandy beach and birdwatching wetlands of James Chabot Park.

On the eastern shores of Windermere Lake is a small artist enclave of Windermere. It is a small town with historic buildings dating back to 1883 and some unique art galleries. In the township of Lake Windermere are a small corner store and a restaurant.

How To Get ToWindermere Lake

:
Travel towards the community of Invermere, BC, Canada on Hwy 93/95. Take the Invermere access road into town to the shores of the lake. A good access point is from the James Chabot Park.
