At the main entrance on 11th Street there is a large trail map with park and trail information. It is a good place to start when exploring Annex Park and the surrounding area. Here, the green lawns of the park include some picnic tables, sitting benches, pit toilets, trails and a duck pond.

The trails in the park connect to larger trails. The gravel trail from the main parking lot crosses a wooden bridge before connecting to the Annex Park Trail. It is the biggest trail in the park which connects to an even larger trail system that links, many points of interest, of the community of Fernie together.

The Annex Park Trail and the larger trails exploring the community are popular for hiking, mountain biking, walking and jogging in the summer months. During the winter months the trails are popular for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. There are many sitting benches located along the trails.

In the park, along the riverbanks of the Elk River, the Annex Park Trail connects to the Great Northern Trail to the east and the Dogwood Trail to the west. The Dogwood Trail takes you near the historic downtown sector of Fernie.
