Ruckle Provincial Park was established in 1974. It is over 480 hectares in size and includes a waterfront that stretches out along the coastline for over 7 kilometres. The rocky coastline extends from the heritage farm all the way to Yeo Point.

From the shoreline there are plenty of opportunities to view marine wildlife. There are sea birds and mammals. Some of the wildlife spotted include whales, sea lions, seals, minks, otters, and deer. Some of the birding opportunities in the park include cormorants, grebes, guillemots, eagles, grouse and quails.

During low tides the rocky headland is exposed revealing tidal pools full of marine life. Some of the tidal pool life includes crabs, mussels, limpets, oysters, sculpins and colorful purple and orange starfish.

The hiking in the park is varied. There are 15 kilometres of easy and difficult hiking trails. Some of the trails follow the ocean coastline while others explore a second growth forest - some do both. The coastline trails follow over flat rock, sand and gravel. The forest trails are dirt with exposed tree roots and rocks. The trail system in the park is well marked with trail signs and markers.

The most popular sightseeing trail is the waterfront route following the coastline from the heritage farm to Yeo Point. The waterfront trail enjoys allot of marine activity. There are views of sailboats, yachts, ferries, barges and fishing boats. Closer to shore you may come across some kayakers and wind surfers.
