The trail explores a shoreline, old paths and sections of logging roads depending on how far you go. There are arbutus trees, Garry Oak trees and hairy manzanita. Sections of the trail explore routes with fields of salal.

Bodega Ridge is a very popular birding site. The landscape is a protected habitat of the Peregrine Falcon. The landscape is a nesting, feeding and hunting grounds for the predator bird. The falcons share the region with Bald Eagles and turkey vultures. The 3 predator birds attract many birdwatchers to the trail and park.
