This is my third invite to the Rockin River Music Festival in Merritt BC Canada. The first year we arrived in Merritt British Columbia in the Maple Leaf Bomber (our motorhome) and camped onsite for the four days and nights. Wow! What a party. The second time, we were unable to attend due to other commitments. Third was this year. However, this time we enjoyed the event from the VIP Booth with the crowds of thousands of screaming country music fans below us. Tim McGraw was the headliner.
"ROCKIN' RIVER is back, baby!! This is so exciting to be coming back to play in Merritt, BC at Rockin' River"
by Aaron Pritchett
On our arrival to the Merritt music event every year, we did what all visitors do. We walked the grounds and poked our noses in every corner checking things out. In doing so you are always drawing comparisons to previous visits. So, on this tour we quickly noticed that there were a lot more food vendors. Notably, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, vegetarian, sandwiches, fries, mini donuts and more. On the other hand, there was less merchandise.
Bottom line most come to the Rockin River Music Festival in Merritt BC Canada for the country music. This year was another stellar line up of music from toe tapping, folk to country rock. From the line-up of country music artists, we enjoyed the performances of Donny Grubb, Kenney Hess, Washboard Union, Karen Lee Batten and Tim McGraw.
One of the highlights of the Rockin River Music Festival in Merritt BC Canada is the Coldwater River. Hence the name "rocking on the river". After all, every year has had intense sunshine and cooling off in the river is an event tradition. Tents, chairs, games, music and water guns are all tools of the trade. At the same time, patrons of the river, are reminded to respect the river and pack out what you pack in.
Previous years the Rockin' River organizers had some pretty cool activities and selfie props. One year there was a big boom box which was the coolest event selfie ever. I remember, watching the bull riding one time, and was amazed at some of the resiliance of the riders. Not sure how much they had to drink to build up that courage? But maybe numb is good? However, we need to give the organizers some slack in 2022. Because of Covid, the organizers only had 4 months to prepare. So, all in all, well done!
