The Lakeshore Pathway is a paved and dirt sightseeing walkway exploring along the shores of Lake Louise in Banff National Park near the village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. The pathway provides views of glaciers, mountains, an aqua colored lake and plenty of easy access to wilderness hiking trails.

The Lake Louise Lakeshore pathway is very well maintained, level and easy going most of the way. It measures about 2 kilometres long and follows the shores of Lake Louise. There are excellent views of glaciers and mountains. The trail is friendly to people of all ages and abilities.

Photo GalleryThe Lakeshore Pathway begins near the Chateau Lake Louise hotel resort. There is a large waterfront promenade area located at the entrance of the lake, just in front of the resort. There are information signs with trail maps and directions posted near the lake pointing people in the right direction.

The promenade is the beginning of the Lakeshore Pathway. Follow the signs. There are sitting benches, flower gardens and grass lawns for lounging along the beginning of the pathway. It is a sightseeing hot spot and is often busy with people.

From the promenade this Lake Louise trail follows a paved pathway for a short distance. Quickly the pavement stops and the trail begins following a well maintained dirt and earthy path. Most of the trail follows the shores of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. Some parts of the path are under the cover of trees. There are some exposed tree roots but otherwise it is easy going and great sightseeing.

At the end of the short Lakeshore Pathway there are great views of rock slides, the lake, mud flats and glaciers. Looking down the lake are some great views of the chateau and the funky aqua colored lake - often with canoes paddling nearby.

The Lakeshore Pathway, too many adventurers, is an access trail connecting and leading to bigger, tougher and longer hiking and backpacking adventures. The connecting hiking trails lead further into the Lake Louise wilderness areas exploring glaciers, rock slides, alpine passes, snow capped peaks and visiting with alpine teahouses.

The Lake Louise trails vary - many are considered difficult and a few are easy going like the Lakeshore Trail. Some of the wilderness trails are shared with horseback riders and mountain bikers. Some of the trails are access routes used by rock climbers looking for cliffs to climb.

Some of the more well used activity routes accessed from Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada include the Lake Agnes, Plain of Six Glaciers, Fairview , Tramline, Mirror Lake, Saddleback Pass and Sheol Valley Trails.
